University of Michigan to pay $2.5 million toward Rich Rodriguez settlement

Rich Rodriguez agrees to pay $4 million to West Virginia for breaking contract to come to Michigan.

The University of Michigan has agreed to pay $2.5 million toward the settlement agreement Rich Rodriguez reached with West Virginia, University of Michigan announced today.

Athletic Director Bill Martin said in a press release that University of Michigan would pay $2.5 millon and Rodriguez would pay $1.5 million out of his own pocket, in three sums of $500,000.

Is Rich Rodriguez worth the pennies? We will see this fall.

Meanwhile, University of Michigan increases tuition and fee 5.6% for the next academic year.
