No.1 USC 34, No.9 Notre Dame 31 (Bush Push)

Matt Leinart spun into the end zone with three seconds left to cap a wild finish and give USC its 28th straight win.

Leinart had the option to spike the ball on the goal line play to regroup his team or go with what he had. He chose the latter, took it in himself over the left side and got a little help moving the pile from star tailback Reggie Bush.

"I used all 200 pounds of my body to push Matt in," said Reggie Bush, who ran for 160 yards on 15 carries with three touchdowns.

No.5 Florida 3, No.15 Alabama 31 (October 1, 2005)

It was the Gators' worst defeat since losing 36-7 to LSU in 2002. Other than Earl Everett's 32-yard run on a fake punt, nothing worked in the game.

Prothro was carted off the field with a splint on his lower left leg after landing awkwardly trying to catch a fourth-down pass in the end zone in the fourth quarter. Shula said the do-it-all receiver broke his leg in two places and was likely out for the season.

I don't understand why Prothro was still on the field in fourth quarter with 31-3 commanding lead. The Shula's decision would cost Prothro's career and eventually Shula's head coaching job at his alma mater, Alabama.
